The Sula is named for the Sulu Sea, the richest water we have ever seen. People speak of Sardinia, or Greece, but there is something wild about the Sulu Sea around Pamalican, the island where Amanpulo is nested.
A clutch in pale sea foam scallop, the colour of shallow water over sand. A soft something blue for a wedding, or a clear summer evening. Set by hand, so no two are quite alike.
Each shell is found, then slowly revealed. It is soaked until the sea loosens its hold and the salt and debris fall away, then polished by hand until the colour settles.
Made slowly, by hand, by artisans in the Philippines, whose skills have been passed down through generations and whose time is honoured fairly. For the evening, and the years after it.
