Each shell is found, then slowly revealed. It is soaked until the sea loosens its hold and the debris falls away, then polished by hand until the colour comes through, pink to gold.
Made slowly, by hand, by artisans in the Philippines, whose skills have been passed down through generations and whose time is honoured fairly. For the evening, and the years after it.
